Are you having trouble with your Vizio TV remote? Don’t worry, it’s common! Many remotes fail to work day by day. It doesn’t mean we change them every single day. Meanwhile, you can turn on your Vizio tv without a remote. Now let’s jump to the troubleshooting process of the Vizio remote.

For the Vizio remote, there are many things we can do to make it work again. Here, through my experience, I am going to share this guide with you. I will show you several reasons why the Vizio remote not working and what you can do to fix it?

Why is Vizio TV Remote Not Working?

While accessing the television, the remote needs to transmit IR singles, which is again only works when there are no obstacles in between.

Sometimes the batteries in the remote are completely drained out, the memory of the remote stuck, power residue of the remote or there is a dirty power source at the end.

Any of the reasons can contribute to the not working of Vizio remote. You must find out the source of the problem at the beginning to resolve the issue.

How to Fix the Vizio TV Remote?

Compared to other TV remotes, solutions for Vizio tv remotes are more critical as they also have smart tv controls which let you access various smart tv applications.

But there are also some exceptions. If you are using a universal remote rather than a Vizio remote, the remote codes will aid the situation.

If the remote is transmitting IR signals and only some buttons on the remote are faulty, it means your remote needs replacement or repair. Generally, this happens when the contacts may be dirty or worn out.

Now, Instead of bushing around further, let’s get to the solutions to this problem.

Remove the Obstacles

Generally the remote only works when the signals transmitted by the remote are received by the TV, smoothly without any bump in between. The remote signals send commands to the TV and that’s how it is controlled.

The TV cannot take commands from the remote if something is blocking the signal. The sensor on the Vizio TV is located either on the bottom left corner or right.

If you think there is any bump like someone is between or there is a DVR that is blocking the signal, remove them first and then try to use the volume button on the remote. If you are able to control the volume, you will know what is the problem and how can you solve it. Make sure there is nothing in front of the screen that is blocking the sensors.

Replace the Old Batteries 🔋 with New Batteries

It’s possible that the batteries you are using with the remote are drained out. Most Vizio remotes use a pair of AA batteries or AAA batteries.

I know that you know how to put batteries, but sometimes the users put the batteries the wrong way, which is also the reason for the remote not working. Ensure you are inserting the batteries after checking the positive and negative ends.

Power Cycle the Remote⚡

The power cycling of the remote can reset the remote completely and reset the power residues if any. It also ensures that the temporary configuration is complete and there is no more configuration error in the remote. To power recycle the remote follow the steps:

  • Firstly remove the batteries from the remote
  • Now press and hold the remote power button for almost five seconds.
  • Release the Button as all the power residue will be drained out from the remote.
  • After that, press all the buttons of the remote at least once to lose the stuck buttons.
  • Finally insert the batteries again in the remote and check if the remote is functioning properly or not.

Remember to remove the batteries first before performing the steps. If this does not work, jump to the next solution.

Power Cycle the TV

Sometimes the issue lies with the receiver. Power cycling the TV resolves all the issues at the receiver side responsible for the unresponsiveness of the remote.

  • Remove the TV plug from the power outlet.
  • Press and hold down the power button of the TV for 30 seconds. 
  • It will clear all the issues that lie within.
  • After waiting for at least one minute, plug the TV back to the power source and turn it on.
  • Check now if the remote is working again. 

Still Vizio TV Remote not Working?

If the remote is still not working then try to use another Vizio tv remote with the TV and if it is working fine then replace the remote. Most Vizio remote work with most Vizio TVs and if your remote still doesn’t work, visit the repairing shop once.

There may be some internal or external damage in the remote that is making them unresponsive. You can replace the remote either with Vizio remote or with the universal remote.
